Hackathon projects

Perhaps it's a good idea to make a list of possible projects to work on during the upcoming hackathon @aelligp @ChristianSchuler @inavarretej. Here are some ideas

• Tensile plasticity
• Fix/improve free surface stabilization
• More miniapps/tests with the variational Stokes formulation (includes bug hunting)
• 3D volcanic setup / other 3D models
• MPI I/O
• Towards integrating the adjoint solver into #main
• Adjoint examples

Any other ideas of new miniapps, fix something, new features or whatever are welcome!

Good idea! I thought about doing the tensile part, whats your take on this, either:

• adding the Tensile Struct to GP
• or doing it directly in JR with the tensile pl. Variables "hardcoded".
  The implementation will still be directly in JR

I would suggest to have first a raw implementation in JR, then move it to GP once everything we need is clear.

For MPI I/O we could check out ADIOS2.jl (https://github.com/eschnett/ADIOS2.jl). There are some resources available:

Thanks for the srcs, definitely worth considering ADIOS2. Will have a closer look at it these days

I am creating some tools in IGG in order to easily create metadata for whichever IO approach (for using VTK etc).
