Game will not launch anymore after trying "Quality" settings

I'm on Linux Mint 22.2., using the Unified Zip. After setting the overall options to "Quality", the game would run as expected at first. However, when trying to launch the game again, I always get this error message:

GLimp_Init() - could not load OpenGL subsystem. See "/home//.local/share/worldofpadman/wop/crashlog.txt" for details.

This happens even after deleting the WoP folder, extracting the Unified Zip again and trying to launch WoP in safe mode.

Workaround: Do not select "Quality" or above for overall System settings. If you did, delete /home/username/.local/share/worldofpadman and try to launch the game again.
