unbundle or replace the pdf2docx dependency for friendlier license?

The latest version requires pdf2docx which has GPL v3 license. For the purpose of my project, I am not able to install this package due to its license. I noticed that earlier version was using a different dependencies - which had a friendlier license. Wondering if there's possibility to unbundle or replace the pdf2docx dependency somehow, so that I can use the latest version of PaddleOCR? Thanks a lot!
