Audiobook metadata file extraction and/or anagement

I moved my audiobook folder from the internal memory to an SD card and all the covers and bookmarks were lost. I tried finding the data on the phone but failed.
could there be any way to save the metadata of files in a file or a folder which can be modified by the user if that feature can't be added.
It would be great if the app itself would be able to move the library, although that can be an issue as these libraries can be large and the long time it takes could cause issues.
If the meta file can be located and modefied it would be great.

The solution I'm suggesting is to be able to edit the app data to select the file associated with the metadata. It could be the same as what the other discussion is suggesting.
I'm not a programmer so I don't know. But if the solution from the previous suggestion is implemented it wouldn't help me.
Since I changed the file format after compressing my library and modifying the audio files of some books that had a too faint or noisy audio.
That is a very specific issue which would be solved if I could change the association of the book data in the app to another file all together.
Instead of identifying the same file using metadata of the file itself, I'm suggesting giving the user the option to associate the file data stored in the app (covers retrieved from the internet, bookmarks, completion status) with another file if the user makes changes to the files.
