There are currently no plans to uplift the project to .NET 8 or above, this is because of backwards compatibility issues that could be created. There are many older projects that could be affected by making a breaking change such as uplifting the project to .NET 8+.

However, I do have plans to create separate forks, or links to other versions of the project that do support newer .NET versions.

Just to make sure: there is no reason to abandon the .NET FW version of the library. You can simply build it in such a way, that there is a .NET FW version and a .NET 8+ version. You can package them inside the same NuGet and Visual Studio will select the correct dependency. This is way better than forking and having two distinct NuGet packages.
