Description
Hello,
I’m experiencing an issue while migrating a Perl-based application from Ubuntu 22.04 to Ubuntu 24.04.
On Ubuntu 22.04, everything works correctly:
I use Apache2 with the embperl and zembperl modules, along with the libembperl-perl library installed from the official Debian package. The application runs smoothly without errors.
However, on Ubuntu 24.04:
the libembperl-perl package is no longer available in the official repositories;
the Apache module zembperl is missing and seemingly no longer available;
even when manually compiling Embperl or installing it via cpanm, the application fails to run, as the library is not recognized or found by the web module.
I have tried multiple configurations and manual compilations, but without success.
I would like to know:
whether zembperl has been deprecated and if there is a compatible replacement for Apache on Ubuntu 24;
whether an updated or alternative version of libembperl-perl exists for Ubuntu 24.04;
whether there is any official guidance for running Embperl on Ubuntu 24, or if support is limited to Ubuntu 22.
I’m happy to provide logs, build details, or any other relevant information to help diagnose the issue.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Best regards,
Sebastiano Tartaglione
