Demo working - but not atomlight

Good day to you all.
I have successfully built and uploaded the 'demo' environment.
The four LED strips I have illuminate with rainbow colours, when all connected to the correct data pin.

I have tried multiple times with multiple types of ESP32 board, to get the 'atomlight' environment working.
Each time, I get the same results. Each strip is connected to its relevant data pin - all I get is fully white strips - no fire effect.

I have watched the videos multiple times and followed the instructions to the letter.

Has anyone else go the stoplight code working as-is?
Or does it need some modifications, other than the obvious ones to do with boards and data pins.

(I have ordered another ESP32 that has an LCD, so I can try and do debugging)
