To me it looks like the cause is the missing file dnsdist-rust-lib/rust/src/lib.rs in beta1, which was still included in alpha1.

Is this a bug or have I missed something?

Hi! dnsdist-rust-lib/rust/src/lib.rs is supposed to be generated by the build system, I'll check what cargo_vendor is doing exactly.

If I add that file to dnsdist-2.0.0-beta1.tar.xz (copied from alpha1), it works. This is the complete output if it works:

Thanks! The FreeBSD maintainer mentioned on IRC that they had a similar issue and just creating the file was enough. I would really like not to add these files to the git repository, but I'll see if we can pre-generate them when generating the release tarball.
