Steps to reproduce

Yeah so i was just messing around with custom prompts and had pasted in the Crescent Moon emoji (🌙), and I noticed that it took two backspaces to delete, leaving an unrecognized character in between. Tried submitting the prompt function with the incomplete character and it threw the error.

Slight poking reveals this is related to the font I'm using, "CaskaydiaMono Nerd Font Mono", so you should probably install that if you're trying to reproduce.

Expected behavior

Honestly I don't really know what I expected it to do, probably just add the little unrecognized character glyph to the prompt.

Actual behavior

Threw a big error and told me to report it. Fair enough.

I don't think this is quite the same issue? Related perhaps but the error of mine seems to be something more specific.

It's in the same bucket -- surrogate pairs are not properly handled in PSReadLine. The reason you need 2 backspaces to remove the emoji is because PSReadLine is deleting a surrogate pair one by one instead of all together at once.

Well sure, but the big exception generated doesn't seem to be mentioned in the original issue.
