@daxian-dbw has fixed a very annoying bug #3884 on linux in PR #3937

That fix is now a year old and has not been generally released.

I personally am fine - I have a line in my dotfiles to install the pre-release version. But I worry that people on linux will give pwsh a try, hit this bug within their first 5 minutes, and decide that pwsh isn't worth investing time into.

A fix exists, but most people won't benefit from it.

Thanks for raising this issue! Sorry that we are currently short in resources in regard to this repo. I will do another preview release by the end of this month.

I released 2.4.1-beta1 of PSReadLine. But I just realized that I misread the request -- you were asking for release the bug fix in a stable release instead.

Only publishing a stable release won't help on having most people benefit the fix, as people still need to explicitly install the new stable version. The new stable release needs to be included in a stable release of PowerShell for the fix to be available to users by default. We will release the stable 2.4.x this year and have it included in the PowerShell 7.6 that will be released in November.
