Self-test error when function not defined is confusing

It says:

An error occured while trying to run your own tests against your implementation of tick.

The following errors were reported
Cannot find alternate implementation of tick to use as a replacement.

The "alternate implementation" is trickling up from lower-level replacement, I suspect.

Yea, that should definitely be improved, but at least shouldn't be an issue when using function-defined guards.
