Node takes too long to sync

Node takes too long to synchronize while unlocking it after being offline for any duration exceeding a week, is there any approach to enhance this behavior?

The unlock takes a long time because, for the node to be fully operational, it needs to sync all blocks from the last "login".
In the past we discussed the idea of executing that sync in a background process, to allow calling APIs that are safe to call even if the node is not fully synced yet and denying the ones that would be unsafe to use.
This is not a priority though, since a node in a real-world usage is usually always online and goes offline only when performing maintanance or updates, and also because this is a one-time wait that only occurs after being offline for a long time.
