MySQL v8.0.11–8.0.12 Fail to Build From Source and Install Under OS X v10.11.6 'El Capitan'

     For prior discussion and the initial upstream issue report, see Homebrew#30405. I'm using this downstream issue to track any further developments with respect to forward progress on resolving this that I might possibly make, as I was never able to get it fixed despite the corresponding issue being closed upstream. (I don't know if this is possible, though, as the only viable solution I can think of at the moment involves what I seem to recall being a recent LLVM upstream version's newly introduced attribute or command-line option to prevent/disable some compile- or link-time symbol-merging optimization, but I can't find it at the moment and wouldn't know how to backport it to the Apple version of LLVM shipped with Xcode v8.2.1 and its Command-Line Tools package or find something with similar effects for it; trust me, I've asked.

     (Note that I've also — in part tangentially — been keeping a branch containing some other formula build improvements that I noticed might be needed when reviewing MySQL's build requirements rebased against upstream's 'master' branch, though I haven't been able to do much anything else with it yet than that.)

     It doesn't look from MySQL v8.0.13's release notes that the underlying issue here has yet been resolved. Running a test build will likely confirm this, naturally enough, but I haven't done that yet. (I'll update this issue's title once I have.) In any case, I need to take another, deeper look into fixing this.
