Access System Keyring and/or System Environment Variables from VS Code Extension

Is it possible to access the system keyring from the VS Code extension? Example, store your api token in the system keyring (using whatever go-between, for example using Python keyring library), so that the actual API token doesn't need to be saved in Rapid ENV variables.
