Use Furo for a more modern documentation design

I’d like to suggest a small improvement regarding the documentation UI.

The current docs work well, but the design feels a bit outdated compared to modern Python libraries.
Popular projects like PyCord and others have switched to Furo, which provides:

• modern look & feel
• mobile-friendly navigation
• built-in dark mode
• better accessibility

Using Furo could make the docs more user-friendly and maintainable.
I’d be happy to help test or provide a small proof of concept.

The current theme is mobile friendly and has a dark mode. The current theme was made from scratch by me and a few other contributors. It's fine.

I really appreciate the work that went into the current theme. It’s mobile-friendly and has a dark mode, which is great. Having said that, I would love to see a more modern design for the documentation, similar to that used by other projects like PyCord with Furo.
I think this would make the documentation feel more up to date and improve its readability, particularly on larger screens.

I'm not going to switch to Furo. There is no benefit to it. The current theme is fine and looks fine. I don't get the point of switching to a theme just because other projects are using the same template. If you feel something is insufficient instead of suggesting to scrap everything with benefits that aren't there, you should mention what points aren't working. I have an ultrawide monitor and the docs work just fine on my large screen -- I do not see an issue.

I understand your point of view, and I thank you for the explanation. While I'm not interested in making a change just because other projects are doing it, I would simply like to see a slightly more modern design. It's more about giving the project a visual update and making it look contemporary, rather than improving its functionality or performance.

As a library user, I prefer the current design. I can identify a few reasons, but there are probably others:

• Each section describing a class, method, or property is clearly marked with a slightly shaded background bar.
• Colors are used much more sparingly, which means I don't have a million things on my screen all trying to grab my attention.
  • Furo's use of red for every identifier is frankly terrible.
• Column width on the current design is wider because there is only one sidebar containing a table of contents. It feels less claustrophobic and prose is easier to read.

I also don't care about if a library looks modern. I'm looking at the documentation because I need information, and the easier the information is for me to get, the better of an experience I'll have.
