Subjects with built-in distinct behavior (unique subjects)

I've found this issue by @AbakumovAlexandr: (feat) Subjects with built-in distinct behavior #4016, but it was closed (and locked) by @cartant without providing any resolution or explanation.

I think this is quite useful behavior. Can you explain why it was closed?

This is a little helper that I use:
