Comment colors are inverted in standard vim on iTerm2

On the main page, it shows comments as just blue text with a dark background, but for me the colors seem to be inverted almost as if they're highlighted:

What would I modify to change comments to be more like sublime text... dark gray so they're less pronounced?

Seems like a few things might be incorrect. Looks very strange. Could you give me the output of `:syntax` How to: 1. Open a JavaScript file in your Vim instance 2. In normal mode, write :syntax 3. Copy paste the output, preferably inside a `code` thingy in this Github issue ( https://docs.github.com/en/github/writing-on-github/working-with-advanced-formatting/creating-and-highlighting-code-blocks ) That way, I can see what may be causing it, if it is syntax. However, I see that other people have the same issues but with different themes when using term2, like for example the issue below. This is an old issue, but for anyone that stumbles on this...

@FuzzySockets this is likely due to Tmux/Screen or your terminal not being able to display italics. Try setting

hi Comment cterm=bold 

In your vimrc and the background will become transparent. This is because the theme uses italics for comments and if you can't render italics you get a solid color instead.
