the GUI is not built by Maven

Although there is a POM in project root directory, it does not create the tool ("[WARNING] JAR will be empty - no content was marked for inclusion!").  Also, project structure does not follow Maven conventions.  

Ability to build via Maven would be greatly appreciated ;-)
