Installing on ubuntu 24.04

Since 24.04, ubuntu has been a pain with pip (maybe with reason). When I try to install roslibpy with pip I get a long message about the fact that this is an externally managed environment and that I should install the corresponding debian package (or install in a virtual environment), or trust that this package is not going to break anything.

I could not find a debian package; did I miss it?. I don't particularly want to have to run in a virtual environment. Would forcing pip to install it anyway break anything?

There is not debian package. I would personally recommend virtual env, in particular, I would go for using uv and installing in a venv controlled by it, which is a million times faster than pip installing or any other package manager around. If none of that is an option, then installing system-wide is probably ok, although make sure you don't have dependencies against specific versions of the libraries that roslibpy depends on, which might be a source of complications if they get updated when you install this
