Azure Blob for MODS - "Couldn't reach/find/compare/copy from"

Hi.

I have set up an Azure Blob Container to be used for handling MODS but when running Winget Auto Update the logs shows as below. I have escaped special characters in the connection string to no avail. I can how ever connect successfully to the Azure Blob container using the Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer using the connection string.

The escaping thing is only for installing. If you don'r escape in GPO/reg it should work

If the external Path is a Private Azure Container protected by a SAS token (resourceURI?sasToken), every special character should be escaped at installation time.
It doesn't work to call Powershell in CMD to install WAU with the parameter:
-ListPath https://storagesample.blob.core.windows.net/sample-container?v=2023-11-31&sr=b&sig=39Up9jzHkxhUIhFEjEh9594DIxe6cIRCgOVOICGSP%3A377&sp=rcw
Instead you must escape every special character (notice the % escape too) like:
-ListPath https://storagesample.blob.core.windows.net/sample-container^?v=2023-11-31^&sr=b^&sig=39Up9jzHkxhUIhFEjEh9594DIxe6cIRCgOVOICGSP%%3A377^&sp=rcw

Based on code analysis, the issue is in the configuration setup. For Azure Blob Storage to work, you need two separate parameters:

Correct Configuration

1. WAU_ModsPath must be set to the literal string "AzureBlob" (not the actual URL)
2. WAU_AzureBlobSASURL must contain your actual SAS URL

Example via Registry:

Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Romanitho\Winget-AutoUpdate" -Name "WAU_ModsPath" -Value "AzureBlob"
Set-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Romanitho\Winget-AutoUpdate" -Name "WAU_AzureBlobSASURL" -Value "https://youraccount.blob.core.windows.net/container?sv=..."

The code at [Test-ModsPath.ps1:163](https://github.com/Romanitho/Winget-AutoUpdate/blob/main/Sources/Winget-AutoUpdate/functions/Test-ModsPath.ps1#L163) checks if $ExternalMods -like "AzureBlob". If you put the actual Azure URL in WAU_ModsPath, it fails this check and tries to treat it as an HTTP URL instead, resulting in the connection error.

Character Escaping Note
Special character escaping with ^ is only needed during installation via CMD. In Registry/GPO, use the URL as-is without escape characters.

Verify Your Setup:

Get-ItemProperty -Path "HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Romanitho\Winget-AutoUpdate" | Select-Object WAU_ModsPath, WAU_AzureBlobSASURL
This should show:

WAU_ModsPath: AzureBlob
WAU_AzureBlobSASURL: Your full SAS URL (with special characters unescaped)
Additional Requirements
SAS token must have Read and List permissions
AzCopy is downloaded automatically by WAU
Check logs at C:\ProgramData\Winget-AutoUpdate\logs\updates.log for detailed error messages

Se där! Har ett helt bänne med kusiner kring Malmö/Veberöd så jag har varit en hel del i Skåne :-)

Grymt, då har du förhoppningsvis en massa bra erfarenhet jag kanske kan "tappa in" på vad det lider 🤞 I min POC kör jag Cloud Only. Gissar att du gjorde din med lokalt AD/GPO. Testade först WAU Weatherligts men gick över till Romanito då den verkar mer uppdaterad/stabil. Nästa steg för min del är att implementera MODS bl.a för att kunna tvinga nedstängning av vissa applikationer som annars nästa alltid är igång och därför inte blir uppdaterade. Vet du om man med MODS även kan starta applikationen efter den uppdaterats?

60 år gammal började jag med PS (nu har jag CLAUDE som hjälp) - du kan göra allt med mods.. ..men det att starta som användaren.. en del säger Start-Process explorer $Run med $Run som programmet (men det har jag aldrig fått att fungera tillförlitligt).
Kanske genom att skapa en task som körs som användare och kalla på den och sedan radera tasken (men det är ju grafisk så då måste ServiceUI.exe användas och den ligger ju med)?
