The default_excluded_apps.txt file includes most browsers, as well as Microsoft Remote Desktop and Teams. Why are these apps included in the default exclusions? I understand there are some problems updating teams, but why the other apps?

web browsers usually come with own dedicated update mechanism which also informs active users if something must be updated/restarted or not.
MSTeams comes in two.. hm.. flavors.. and that could make it messy during upgrades.

Please remember that WAU relies entirely on detection methods of winget itself.
Sometimes winget identifies some old residues as part of user/machine context installations.
Some apps are simply having own problems and it was decided that it would be better to put them on exclusion lists.

I hope that what I have written is a sufficient introduction and a satisfactory description of the problem, which is quite complex.

Understood... I've found that remote desktop app isn't updating itself, and wondered why WAU wasn't, and found the exclusion. I dunno why RD isn't updating itself, but WAU updates it fine when I remove it from the exclusion list.
