Perform file edit functions in the background like Cursor and Windsurf

A user on Reddit has requested a feature that would allow Roo Code file edits to happen in the background like Cursor and Windsurf so that he could continue on another task in the IDE while the edits are happening in the background.

I second this feature on the grounds that it's annoying to pass off a large task to a competent AI and come back and have 45 tabs/files open.

I am to that point where the AI can edit the file and I probably won't open it unless it fails to compile. I'm sure I'll be how it escapes containment one day.
