Sometimes the Roo code panel will disappear. I restart VScode and I can get Roo to re-appear, but if I click on an old chat then the screen goes blank again

Running on Ubuntu 24.04
VScode version 1.99.1

Detailed Steps to Reproduce

1. Chat with Roo
2. Something happens where Roo panel is blank
3. Restart VScode to try and get Roo back, try to open old chat

If you go to Help -> Toggle Developer Tools do you see any JSON parsing errors in the console? If so, I think #2666 will help in the next release.

I have the same issue in v3.12.0 -- except my screen is grey and I've noticed this behavior starts to happen consistently after chat grows to 100mb+ . When I start a new chat, it will work right up to around that number and then it starts crashing within a few api calls.

I'm pretty sure the gray screen is different than the black screen. The gray screen is related to running out of resources on large chats and the whole extension host dying. I'm pretty sure the black screen is caused by a a webview crash (in this case from parsing invalid json). I'm going to close this one for now as the latter, and we'll keep working on the gray screens. Let me know if either of you disagree!

Hey friend, the crashing issue might be related to VSCode.

Try downgrading your VSCode to version 1.97 and see if it helps:
