1. Go to a conversation
2. While in a conversation, click the 'New Task' (plus button)
3. Brings you back to a previous/different conversation with an error shown and parts of conversation deleted

It should simply open a new conversation without deleting anything from any other, obviously.

Were you using Orchestrator mode when the issue occurred? This might be an issue with the new_task tool.

Hi @daniel-lxs , I'm not really sure. The one where it disappeared was in Code mode. Can't say about the other one. I've noticed issues sometimes if I were to I interrupt the thinking process of the latest Gemini, as conversations would just stop being responsive. Oftentimes when this happens, and the buttons to terminate the conversation become grayed out, if I don't delete my last reply (effectively deleting everything after it), it would lose entire conversation on the frontend if I were to click the 'X' to close the conversation. Could be related.

I still can't seem to reproduce it but I have definitely seen this issue.

I think it happens when closing the conversation, not necessarily simply by opening a new task. Nowadays, I fear closing the conversation due to risk of losing data. This bug happens on 30% of my conversations now. In fact, I'm expecting a bug every time I decide to close the conversation so I have to actually exhaust everything and be ready to lose data before I decide to do it. It's raising my anxiety every time I think about doing it.
