I've opened PR #7891 with a fix for the HTML entity escaping issues affecting Gemini Flash and other models.

The fix enhances the HTML entity unescaping to handle additional escape sequences that these models produce, and applies the unescaping to both file writing and diff application operations.

All CI checks have passed successfully. The PR is ready for review: #7891

Thanks for raising this. Different models have different capacities, and some of the smaller/faster ones (like Gemini Flash) can struggle with tool use such as file writes or diffs. We’re continually working to improve coverage and add support for more models, but there isn’t much we can do when a model itself doesn’t reliably handle the tools.
