[BUG] VS Code LM API provider not working

Problem (one or two sentences)

When choosing "VS Code LM API" as the API Provider, the Language Model dropdown is broken and doesn't show the model names correctly. All the model names just show as either:

• aitk-github - aitk
  or
• aitk-foundry - aitk

So, it's unusable since you don't know which model you are choosing anymore. This started a week or so ago, but I had no issues before that.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Roo Code extension but it didn't fix it.

Context (who is affected and when)

I assume everyone who uses Roo Code with VS Code LM API as the API Provider

Reproduction steps

1. Install Roo Code extension
2. Go to settings
3. Add a new provider
4. Set API Provider as VS Code LM API
5. View the Language Model dropdown values

Expected result

The Languade Model dropdown should have the correct model names

Actual result

The Languade Model dropdown has the incorrect / cryptic model names

I've opened PR #8444 with a fix for the VS Code LM API model name display issue.

The fix ensures that model names are displayed properly by:

• Adding support for the name property from VS Code Language Model API
• Providing intelligent fallbacks when the name property is not available
• Maintaining backward compatibility

The implementation has been tested and all checks are passing. Feedback welcome!

Yes, I use the standard VSCode Copilot Chat all the time with various of their models.
