Using the "--outbuf" option

If the optimization target is "thruput", namely how quickly can we make rsync complete the task, should the "--outbuf" option be avoided, leaving the default "Full" mode in effect ?

When is it better to use the "Line" setting with that option ? The man page is not very helpful in making us understand the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other.
