"Failed to initialize xdo lib" error on void-linux

Tried using void's xdotool-devel package, as well as compiling the xdotool manually from https://github.com/jordansissel/xdotool - for both of these wayland-push-to-talk-fix builds OK, but fails to initialize xdo, any ideas?

Having the exact same issue on NixOS, building with xdotool and libX11

I found the culprit::

Running this as root under wayland does not work as wayland does not allow GUI applications to run as root. When running as non-root, it will complain about permission denied. As a workaround I uses chown $USER /dev/input/by-id/, then running as non-sudo will make it work.

Definitive fix is to add your user to "input" or "plugdev" group (whichever your distro uses for input device access from user space).
