Description
Description
When setting up an event with an optional donation field, the registration flow does not provide a way for the registrant to remove the donation amount once it has been selected and they've progressed to the next page.
Steps to Reproduce
- Create an event in Summit Events with the Optional Donation feature enabled.
- Begin registering for the event.
- On the donation step, select a donation amount (or enter a custom amount).
- Continue with the registration process.
- Before completing registration, attempt to go back to the original page remove the donation amount (set to zero or deselect).
Expected Behavior
The registrant should have a clear option to remove or deselect the donation before submitting their registration — for example, by clearing the field, setting it to $0, or selecting “No donation.”
Actual Behavior
Once a donation amount is selected, there is no way to remove it within the registration flow. The registrant must either:
- Cancel their entire registration and start over, or
- Proceed with the unwanted donation amount.
Impact
- Causes user frustration and possible abandonment of registration.
- May lead to unintentional donations being processed.
- Reduces overall usability of the optional donation feature.
Workaround
Event administrators can add a $0 donation option to the optional donation list. This allows registrants to select $0 as a way of effectively removing a donation before completing registration.
