SEB 3.10.0 --> __CxxFrameHandler4 could not be located

Describe the Bug
Can't start SEB. Get this message:

1. Install SEB with the EXE or MSI
2. Start SEB
3. See error

Expected Behavior
It should work

Version Information

• OS: Windows 10 LTSC 1809 (Support until 2029)
• SEB-Version 3.10.0 (UZH want this)

Additional Context
It is mention that 1803 is the minimum requirement. Therefore i assume that 1809 is still working. But it seams not be the case.
Also tried with 3.10.1 same result.

• no logs are generated
• SEB 3.9 is working

Are you install Visual C++ Redistributable?

I installed the exe therefore the VC++ are updated in that process. But doesn't work

I tested with 3.10.0 and 3.10.1

I can't see a 3.11

Are you also running an older version of Windows 10 (like LTSC 2019 or version 1809)? I faced this crash on LTSC 1809 because the OS lacks the specific VCRUNTIME140_1.dll by default, and the installer didn't seem to deploy it correctly.

Yes we are using the LTSC 2019 version. Is the fix copy the mention dll to the folder where the exe is?

Yes, exactly. That is the quickest workaround.

You just need to copy VCRUNTIME140_1.dll (usually found in C:\Windows\System32 if you have the redistributable installed) and paste it directly into the Safe Exam Browser installation folder (next to SafeExamBrowser.exe).

This forces the application to load the correct library version immediately.

I was to early :/

It was working on my virtual machine. But on real laptops despite that the file is there i get again the error. Doesn't matter if MSI or EXE installation :(

Install Visual C++ Redistributable first. After all, install seb.

It get's even better. SEB starts when i connect via RDP (expect that SEB complains it is RDP). Same user but at the machine it self the error pops up :/
