Can't disable sources

Problem:

I put default = {} to disable all sources, filetype lua with only buffer source and disable cmdline. None of them works.

I'm able to reproduce this also with lazy.nvim Minit.

blink.cmp v0.10.0 from main in LazyVim (and lazy.nvim package manager, of course).

Here's the extends-blink-cmp.lua I have in ~/.config/nvim/lua/plugins/:

wow! took me a while to find this thread. i'm surprised how hard it is to disable a source. thanks @derrekcoleman

If you want to disable a single source, try sources.providers.*.enabled. Unfortunately, setting sources.default = {} doesn't work in LazyVim because it uses opts_extend = { "sources.default" }. This means the field gets combined with other sources.default definitions, instead of getting replaced, when you define it.

Can anyone show a working configuration that overrides Lazyvim to disable one or more sources (based on filetype) as well as the output of a BlinkCmp status showing the win?

@derrekcoleman Thanks for the response. Based on the configuration you posted above, I'm wondering if you ran that BlinkCmp status against a buffer with a markdown file loaded? I guess I'm expecting something different from what the status command is reporting.

Good catch - that was from the lua file. Here's the same from a markdown file, identical except for the order of items in Default sources:

Doesn't that strike you as wrong though? Your configuration says there should be no sources for markdown. I'm trying to understand if the status command can be relied on as an honest source of truth. From what I'm seeing, I'm leaning toward a no?
