YouTube playlists seem like the best "free" option - though they do force ads upon the user, they might also help Google's recommendation engine create rabbit holes for open science, good scientific software practices, metadata, documentation standards, etc.
Vimeo has a weekly limit of 500MB uploads which isn't a huge problem but a total limit of 5 GB for their free plan, which is. I suppose we could rotate Vimeo accounts and create a curated playlist that way but it seems easier to build a YouTube playlist with no limits (for now, Google has a habit of changing things suddenly when they are no longer financially viable or sustainable)
If we want to commit to purchasing a Vimeo plan into perpetuity here's what those costs look like at the moment - the $7/month plan seems like it would be fine for our purposes so ~ $96 / yr.
