why is there no negative sign on mine
i have the version 2.1.6

Somewhere between the original set of videos and 2.x, that segment was removed. The replacement is adding another 7-seg display and using the middle segment.

With the minus sign it is technically an 8 segment display. Most 8 segment displays have a dot for the 8th input.
Not sure why the updated ones have 8 inputs when there are only 7 segments now though.

the 8th input is to color the display in blue

I guess red/blue could indicate if a number is negative now if you needed it to.
It would be cool if you could have R, G, and B inputs (maybe on the bottom) to set the colour to any of the options Red, Green, Blue, Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, White, and Black/off.

I don't have any practical reason, other than it being fun. :)
