Install SO on Dell Insperion 3650 desktop

Hi, I am trying to install a security onion version 2.4.1 40 on an old Dell Inspiron 3650 desktop computer that has 16 GB of RAM and enough storage to hold everything. Everything. The issue that I'm running into is when I'm setting up a static IP and I select my Nic for the management but then when I proceed I get an error. My question is A USB to ethernet adapter able to work with this or do I need to physically buy another nic and install it?

You should be able to use a USB NIC, so long as there isn't any driver issue. What kind of USB NIC is this?

I think you typically see this when you have multiple default routes configured whats the output of

ip route
