Just using the at symbol, and yes I tried a simple one, even tried to use
the computer name and local domain in place of the @domain.name

Here's the function that checks the username: As you can see, it's a simple function and it's just looking for invalid characters. Are you saying that Are you using a non-US keyboard or any other kind of non-standard keyboard? |

No ***@***.*** does not work and I am using a standard us keyboard.

Are you able to share screenshots of entering Have you tried using a different keyboard or different computer? Have you tried using our Security Onion ISO image instead of an unsupported network installation? |

OK so update to 24.04 fixed the SOC email issue, but now I am getting salt errors....... |

I can not try the iso at this point because this is a remote server. However I have another server here in my office that is newer and I have issues installing the iso on that one also. Keep getting errors on the install and after a reboot nothing will start up. I know I meet minimum requirements so now I am playing with installing an OS and then SO Network install, but options are getting low......LOL |

I was running 2.3 on Ubuntu 20.04, wanted to upgrade to 2.4, so did a
release upgrade to 22.04, and clones so 2.4, tried to install and that is
where I got stuck. I am trying a release upgrade to 24.04, I will be in the
office in a few and am going to check on the release upgrade and try again.
The install doc looks like 22.04 will work, but the so install says it is
an unsupported OS. Not sure if there is a connection there or not

Network installs have been tested on Ubuntu 22.04 but not 24.04. However, network installations in general on any OS are unsupported: Your best bet is to download our Security Onion ISO image: |

OK I have one machine installing from iso, and I finally got salt to install on my remote Ubuntu 24.04, I am doing a network install now. I will see how this all goes |

OK So i am having all kinds of errors with this system, so I am going to scrap this and try to either do a fresh install, or use the ISO, I am going to consider this discussion closed. However I am going to open a new on with the issues I am getting on another server using the iso, so stay tuned.....lol |

When doing the Network install, I am getting to the point of entering an email address for the SOC admin account, and everytime I enter an email(real or fake) it tells me to enter a valid email address. Anyone have any clue? First time I have seen this......
