Setup Question

Hello, I am interested in using SecurityOnion in my home network, but I need some help to ensure I can do the setup that I think would be easiest. I have a cable modem passing data to a Protectli firewall running OpnSense, which then connects to a wireless router acting as an AP. I'm curious if I could pass the data from the firewall into a device with dual NICs running SecurityOnion and then pass the data from there to the router. I'm thinking that would be the easiest path to getting this setup, but am open to ideas.
