Regarding the point 4. Image example with Home Assistant Puppet, my advice would be to use BMP instead of PNG, as this will almost certain give memory errors. For example:

I use Lovelace Kindle Screensaver addon and have the exact same issue. Unfortunately using BMP in the Lovelace Kindle Screensaver is a bit of an afterthought and the Puppet addon doesn’t load my custom cards correctly so I’m stuck with this workaround. It was working back around 2025.7 but something changed. |

Having an issue where ~80% of the display fades (All but lower right corner when facing display.) Performing a hard reset (Power Cycle) temporarily corrects the problem, but it starts to fade within minutes. Is this a HW issue or do I need to add a code block to "bounce" the device. Thanks. |

Having a huge issue where the display constantly keeps reconnecting. Tried holding boot while plugging in, holding boot, pressing reset, keep holding boot, then connecting. Nothing works. My panel seems to be BRICKED into a constant disconnect loop, which prevents it from having any other firmware installed. Please helo! |

Thanks for getting back to me swiftly. Doing this (and only this) gets it
out of the disconnection loop, and showing up as a COM4 usb device.
However, through all the methods (via ESPhome on HA, via
https://web.esphome.io/, via OTA, it fails to actually connect with the
device (keeps being stuck on 'connecting') and installing anything.
Unplugging and reconnecting the panel results in the reconnecting loop
returning, unless I do the trick you described.
Hope you can help a little more :)

Is it ok when you run the demo in our wiki? If those demos in our wiki don't get your device stuck, but you program get it stuck. In this case you should check your program to find out which line of code make the device stuck~ |

Unfortunately, also the demo in the wiki doesn't work. My device stays on
the "Begin your smart home Journey", even though I followed all the steps,
also troubleshooted with ChatGPT to see if I did anything wrong, but no
succes.

Thanks! To add more information. I did manage to be able to actually
install firmware on it, flash .bin files to it, but the screen is hardstuck
on the demoscreen displaying "Begin your smart home journey'. It doesn't
cycle through the different demo screens anymore, it did when the unit
first arrived here. The device refuses to refresh or do anything with the
information I flash on it. I don't know if this is a driver issue or
something, but right now it's hardstuck on one screen. Tried installing the
.bin with CMD, with web ESPhome, with EPS home in HA, but no success. I
recently bought it (2 weeks ago) via Aliexpress via the official seeed
store.

Do you have Arduino IDE? You can use it to run this demo to check if the device is ok. When you compile and upload the program to you device in ESPHome, is there any error reports? |

@petr-nov Here “take the MCU out from the driver board” means: please open the display module and remove the XIAO ESP32C3 board inside. Then try to upload the firmware again with the method shown in the picture below.

To add some more information. I've been able to connect it OTA with wifi -
I can install whatever I want on it ....but the screen just won't refresh.
Even if I add some lines to force a refresh (or force refresh from HA), the
device is just frozen on that one demo screen. Hope this helps!

Hi Allen-Kuang,
We're one step closer to the solution :) I have successfully installed the
Arduino Display test on my device. I have a demo screen of a ticking clock
now. Finally, I can see the device is actually working.
I bought the device to work with Home Assistant though, so how do you
recommend I proceed from here? ESPHome just like before again (the way it
froze my device) or via another route?

When you compile and upload the program to you device in ESPHome, is there

If yes, please take a screenshot and send it to me.
If not, please wait the screen to display. It's a little bit slow and will
take a few minutes sometimes.

Could you connect your divice to your HA host and upload the program like the following way? I mainly want to see what happy to you divice. So Could you take some screenshorts of the logs or download it and send them to me? Finally, please make sure your GPIO is right. If anything right but display nothing, it must be your GPIO is wrong.

Hi, Excellent work! I was able to reproduce demos, but I am currently looking for a way to display the remaining battery level. A quick google search showed that I need to define adc sensor, but I am not sure about the pins since they were all used up before. Any responses are welcome. |

Is there any way to clean up the refresh process of the screen? My use-case is mirroring a Home Assistant dashboard that includes a clock, calendar and other dynamic data elements like Solar production and current electrical use. I have the refresh rate set to every 60 seconds. It is annoying to see the screen flicker many times on every update: invert current populated screen -> full blackout -> clear screen -> full blackout -> populate screen. Is there any control within the yaml code to control this? I'd much rather see simply a clear event and then repopulate. The log suggests the hat is being power cycled on each refresh. |

for other people with heap issues, i fixed mine with an XDA article here: https://www.xda-developers.com/reterminal-e1002-productivity-dashboard Also, since I do have the reterminal E1002, shouldn't it be able to display the HA Puppet image in color? It seems to always convert it to black and white. |

It looks like this Wiki needs to be updated as the latest changes to Puppet have modified the parameters for the URL, I did not notice an issue until two days ago and I'm on Puppet version 2.4.1. I looked at the change log and it looks like the breaking change was with 2.0.0 or 2.3.0. I do like the changes that they made with Puppetas it now has a Web UI that helps you find the best URL to use. I was able to find some settings that work for the XIAO 7.5" ePaper Panel.
Hope this helps anyone who is running into issues with the update to Puppet. |

I must have installed something incorrectly. Now the display keeps connecting and disconnecting from the PC (via USB) every second, making it impossible to install anything. The reset button on the back doesn't help. |

Do you mean the issue where the display repeatedly connects to and disconnects from the PC via USB every second? In that case, both the display and the battery must be disconnected from the MCU first. Do not connect the USB cable yet. Then press and hold the BOOT button on the MCU and, while keeping it pressed, connect the USB cable to the PC. Continue holding the button and only release it once the connection has been established successfully. After that, the firmware can be flashed as usual. |
