Problem description

It's becoming apparent that this repository is no longer maintained, and with the loss of support with React 19 this will become a bigger problem over time. This is not a complaint, as the maintainers' time is probably tied up with projects and life - I'm well aware this is likely the case, and your time and life are greatly appreciated. At the same time though, we have invested interests in this project as business of various levels relies on it.

Proposed solution? Maybe?

There is a big community behind this project. Perhaps the community can take over the project and continue development or at the very least manage incoming Pull Requests. There is a point where if this does not progress we'll have to re-evaluate if it's worth migrating away from the framework (huge undertaking surely, and quite a shame frankly... It's a good system).

So what can be done? There are 30 PRs pending. Would it help if community members donated time to evaluate them and someone can press that merge button if say a quorum of members vet the PR?

I still think a sponsor button is a good idea that could make it possible for the maintainers to spend more time on the project. I would happily sponsor at $100/month right away and my startup would also be a sponsor in the future. I'm sure others from the community would, too, and it would add up.

The button can link to one or more sponsorship platforms:

• GitHub Sponsors (very easy to set up)
• Open Collective
• Stripe
• ... many others
• Any custom URL

This can be done in an hour or two.

@layershifter @dominikdosoudil Many production applications, including ours, rely heavily on Semantic UI React. Unfortunately, with no active maintenance in recent years, errors are becoming more frequent, and the lack of support for React 19 (and outdated peer dependencies) is quickly turning into a critical issue for many teams.

This is an outstanding UI library with a strong community and proven design system. It would be a real loss to see it fade away. Instead, perhaps we could explore options to keep it alive:

• Community-Driven Maintenance - Recruit trusted, active community members to help triage issues, review PRs, and merge fixes.
• React 19 & Dependency Updates - Prioritize compatibility updates to ensure the library remains viable for current and upcoming React versions.
• Funding / Sponsorships - Set up GitHub Sponsors, Open Collective, or similar platforms to fund maintainers' time. Several users have already expressed willingness to contribute financially.
• Governance Model - Establish a lightweight governance process so decisions aren’t bottlenecked by a small number of maintainers.

We’d be happy to contribute time, resources, and testing efforts toward keeping Semantic UI React sustainable. Any thoughts on how we could move forward together as a community?
