Can I override shipit.yml for a stack without creating a new file?

I would like to edit just the CI configuration for the "staging" stack of my app, and keep the rest of the settings the same as "production". Based on the documentation, I would need to create a separate shipit.staging.yml to customize the stack. My concern is this introduces redundancy and any future edits to shipit.yml would also have to be propagated to shipit.staging.yml.

Is there a way to "override" the CI settings in shipit.yml for the staging stack instead of redefining the entire pipeline?
