For Windows, follow these steps:

1. Check or Generate SSH Keys
Open Command Prompt or PowerShell.
Check if you already have an SSH key:

dir ~/.ssh

If id_rsa and id_rsa.pub are not listed, generate a new SSH key:

ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C "your_email@example.com"

When prompted, save the key in the default location (C:\Users<YourUsername>.ssh\id_rsa) and set a passphrase if desired.
2. Add SSH Key to the SSH Agent
Start the SSH agent:

eval "$(ssh-agent -s)"

Add your SSH private key to the agent:

ssh-add C:\Users\<YourUsername>\.ssh\id_rsa

3. Add the SSH Key to GitHub
Copy your public key:

type C:\Users\<YourUsername>\.ssh\id_rsa.pub

Log in to GitHub and go to Settings > SSH and GPG keys > New SSH key.
Paste the key into the field and give it a recognizable title.
4. Test SSH Connection
Verify the connection to GitHub:

ssh -T git@github.com

If successful, you'll see a message like:

Hi username! You've successfully authenticated, but GitHub does not provide shell access.

I solved it by creating a token (classic) that has permissions for everything
https://github.com/settings/tokens

then u can run the py with:

python contribute.py --repository=https://USERNAME:TOKEN@github.com/user/repo.git
