You will need the signalk-to-influxdb plugin installed on the Signal K server to provide the playback data source.

Question: can I use also the influxdb2 plugin?

In the influxdb1 plugin description I read:
The plugin writes only self data. It converts Signal K paths to InfluxDb measurement keys in CamelCase format, eg. navigationPosition.
Adding support for non-self data would be pretty easy by adding context as InfluxDB tags.

Can you explain me? I need excactly to store non-self data! Indeed I want to store AIS records in order to have a "traffic register"

Please tell us what you are trying to achieve - what would you like to happen in Freeboard. Is it playback (being able to play back data from a certain point in time, in realtime) or retrieve vessels' previous tracks or data and show them somehow? "traffic register" can mean so many things - just by using the influxdb2 plugin you can create a "traffic register", if that means a database of data for all vessels in a system.

Influxdb2 plugin does not yet support the playback api. It should be fairly easy to add, but so far very few people have shown interest in playback.

The coordination office for pilots at a port is using a plotter to monitor maritime traffic in the area. Risky behaviors often occur, such as failing to give way, speeding, or even collisions.

They have asked me for a system to record all traffic using AIS data. This way, if necessary, they can review what was happening at a given moment and have evidence in case of disputes. Therefore, the replay must also display the date and time.

It would also be useful to have the ability to scroll through a timeline to jump directly to the desired moment and a fast-forward/rewind visualization, similar to what is done in video editors.
