Is there a way to just view the waveform and it's position rather than playing/recording audio?

I need to use background audio to play my content, but I love the waveform and would like to use it in my project.

So I'm wondering if I can listen to seek updates with the waveform lib (both read and write) to display the current position but not actually play via pause/playPlayer functionality?
