Do you use AI Code Agent?

I just came across a Github repository with these weird directories: .agent, .agents/skills, .claude/skills. Inside these are full of sub-directories with .md files. I don't see these thingy on this repository. Phew!

I don't want to dictate whether you should or shouldn't use these! I have no comment about your choices (of course, who am I to make decisions for other people?). They really astonish me with how powerful AI has become. An amateur like me feels like slop. I wonder if I should abandon everything and go grow watermelons on a farm. Maybe that would be better for me!

With a paid AI, can we teach it to learn eepp and ask it to write a Notepad replacement in eepp? You might try this. As an unemployed person, I don’t dare to put money into paid AI, and with my current situation, I don’t need a pro AI. Copilot free is good enough for me. But maybe not for much longer. It has started to take several more seconds to generate an answer compared to how it used to perform. I can see the words being generated one after another. They are limiting free users like me.

Do you use AI Code Agent?

I'm trying and testing different agentic coding solutions with varied success. Most of the code produced ends up being quite bad but it's not always the case, sometimes it's great or at least useful, my experience so far indicates that for very well defined task where the number of interactions between the components is low, it's useful. But also in those cases agentic coding is not justified, you can manage it with simple prompts.

Personally I do not enjoy working with agents (and AI in general to be honest) but I will try to not resist that much the trend if it's actually useful, for the moment I won't add any agent support to ecode but I might add it in the future using ACP.

I'm using AI when I think it can help me solve the problem faster, you'll already see some AI generated code on eepp, but it's 100% supervised and almost always quite modified from the original. It's very easy to miss things when you're not the one who thought the solution in the first place, good reviewing is always hard, so I'm still very distrustful of AI code, and I think vibe coding is absolute madness.

This can be achieved very easily providing the correct context and I'm confident that you can probably solve it with very few prompts, no agents needed, no paid solutions needed either. Notepad is just a UIMenuBar + UITextEdit (from eepp), you just need to let the AI know the headers of the UI widgets needed and show some examples on how to use the eepp GUI.

I'm really lagging behind in AI. I can't image how the prompts for this look like. I tried this:

Well, you need to do much more to achieve any decent result, the example looks like eepp but it's 50% hallucinations, the relevant context should be part of the prompt, do not expect the AI to scan the repository, this usually does not work or needs more direction. But try to do the same from Antigravity and you'll something much better. But yeah, AI won't work magically if it does not have a good context. This is why AI performs very well on well known frameworks but simply hallucinates on niche things like eepp, models don't have enough training data to generate great results.
