Have a setting that turns off auto delivery of BBS DMs.
If Auto delivery is off, it sends a DM letting the node know there is awaiting messages the next time they are seen/heard. Then like the BBS, they can see a list of their own messages awaiting them and read them one at a time.
My thoughts behind it are if I am on the outskirts of the range and the bbs hears my node and just fires off the DMs and I don't receive them all.
Maybe there is already logic in place to account for this and protect against the lost message scenario? I was just a little surprised when I was testing it the other day, and I immediately received my awaiting DMs without checking my "mail".
I also realize that this would probably end up with scope creep because you would also want to make sure stale messages are sitting around forever, read or unread. Also, from a privacy standpoint, you wouldn't want the BBS host to be able to read the DM message directly either, whether it's in the db waiting to be read or in the logs.
