Style Guide

Whenever modifying or adding site content, be mindful of these guidelines.

Team Name

• Contrary to popular opinion, our team name is capitalized StuyPulse, not Stuypulse.

Images

• All images must be optimized for web.
  • If you have Photoshop, use "Save for Web".
  • Otherwise, use ImageOptim.
• Images should not be higher resolution than they need to be.
• If the image is a JPEG, aim for a quality of about 80.

Carousel

• The carousel must have a maximum of 5 items.
• Carousel images must be 960 x 480 JPEGs.
• Carousel images go in /img/carousel/.

History

• Robot images should be 420px wide. Images in portrait orientation can break this rule (See DESbot).
• Images must be JPEGs.
• Images go in /img/history/.

Blog Posts

• To show a preview of a post on the front page and the blog index, add <!-- more --> where you want to end the preview and show a "Read more" link.
• Avoid exclamation points in post titles.

Sponsors

• Sponsor logos must be GIFs or PNGs.
• Logos go in /img/sponsors/.
• Logos must be <=160px wide, preferably with white (or transparent) backgrounds.
• Where to find sponsor logos, by priority:
  1. Official downloads on sponsor website. (e.g. Credit Suisse, FIRST)
  2. Email sponsor representative for logo.
  3. Google Images. Avoid JPEGs and poor quality images. Find something large that you can shrink to size.
