Skream McLaren Steering Wheel and Pedals - Pedals are connected as Buttons instead of analog Stick

Hi
I'm Running "Devel" with Script "DumpButtonsHwSpiWithAck.ino" with the Skream McLaren Steering Wheel and Pedals.
Most of it works, but I recieve for Break-Pedal -> Square and Accelerate-Pedal -> Cross.
I've looked and there are some Potentiometers in it, so I assume it's not implemented.
How could I check for the Signal? Is there a Debug-Mode?

Hi,
I suspect the wheel reports as a Negcon.
Check if the protocol shows as PSPROTO_NEGCON.
If so, you can read the analog values using PSAB_CROSS, PSAB_SQUARE and PSAB_L1.

It is recognized as Dual Shock.
How could I force the code to initialize it as Negcon?
So could I check if that would work.
In the DumpButtonsHwSpi.ino I have only:

If it's this one, looks like it does have a negcon mode.

yes it's this one.
The problem is, if I activate this mode and reset the Arduino it doesen't recognize a Controller.
It stays at "Ready!" in the Serial Monitor.
If I change to the negcon mode after it's as Dual Shock recognized, I will recieve the Pedals as buttons.

Maybe I got it wrong, should I then try to get the Analog-Values?
In this case, can you make an code exmple for that in the DumpBottonsHwSpi?
I normaly just work with PHP, JavaScript and so for Hobby, so I have problems to find the right spot in the c++ files.

Yeah it will report pedas as buttons.
When in negcon mode, you will need to get the analog values using psx.getAnalogButton();

ie:

Serial.print( F("Analog Cross: ") );
Serial.println( psx.getAnalogButton(PSAB_CROSS) );

Good to hear that it's working :)

There's one thing that might improve be a quality of life improvement.
Some controllers supports changing mode by a software command. In the same way a controller can be set to digital or analog mode.
Some multi-mode devices can change mode via software. And Some will only change mode via physical button.

You can try some other values here

out[3] = enabled ? 0x01 : 0x00;

The first 0x01 is the mode index.
Try with 0x02, then 0x03, then 0x04.

For each test, disconnect the controller before flashing the updated firmware and reconnect after flashing.

If this works, it will automatically change he wheel's mode.
Find the index of the Negcon mode and you can use that.

Btw, what are you trying to achieve? Wheel to USB for usage on PC? Something else? I might be able to help.
I have a project that is a classic controller to usb adapter. It's PSX input system uses PsxNewLib :)

The changes seems not to have any effect to the mode of this controller.
I do de changes to the PsxSingleController.h on Line 133, Upload the Code turn off the Arduino Nano and unplug the Power of the Controller and wait for 1 Minute to start and reconnect the Powerline.
It's always in the Dual Shock Mode.

I use the Steering Wheel and Pedals for a Lego-Technic-RC-Car with Trailer.
Me and my wife bought a caravan, but my wife doesen't have the license for drive it.
And here in switzerland you have to make a driver license for caravans above 750 kg.
For more practice and understanding, i created the RC-Car.
She have some problems with the usual RC-Controller, so as a good husband I decided to make her a Controller, which is more realistic ;-).

Looks like the device can't go into negcon mode using a command.
This is expected. I've only seen some devices that supports that.

You can probably just add a check on the code to see if the device is in the correct mode.

Something like:
