I'm not entirely sure why the compilation error occurred; I'm just raising the question.

How you are installing vllm

Consistent with the readme.The only difference is pip install ray-3.0.0.dev0-cp312-cp312-win_amd64.whl and pip install torch torchvision torchaudio --extra-index-url https://download.pytorch.org/whl/cu130

This is not related to vLLM, is your environment.

Your cl.exe (MSVC compiler) is broken and cannot compile a simple test program before starting the CMake build.

Uninstall Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 completely and reinstall it again, installing the Windows SDK component too.

Also, make sure you are in Visual Studio console by calling VISUAL_STUDIO_INSTALL_PATH\VC\Auxiliary\Build\vcvarsall.bat x64 before building vLLM (this is specified in the build instructions).
