need an option to redirect search without a bang to any search engine of choice

currently, any search query without a bang redirects to google by default.

we can have a dropdown in the home page that let's you select a search engine of choice.

this can basically just append another query param at the end, something along the lines of https://unduck.link?engine='ddg'&q=%s if you want ddg to be your default search engine.

users can then copy this and go on with the pasting as they do normally

a temporary fix to this would be to just modify local storage

You can just type this in your url

@danpiths and others wanting a fix for this, you can add this to your browser search engine list:

https://unduck.link?q=!ddg+%s

You can modify the !ddg to be the bang of whatever you want the default search engine to be. If you put another bang after that, for example !gh, it will navigate to that bang instead of the first.

FWIW I agree there should be an option to set this without the workaround.

Having two interfaces (URL and console) is too much for such a simple idea; everything should be in one, simple interface. For this project, the URL is the best choice, and it should be self-explanatory, so that anyone who can read a URL can understand it.

I like @grepex's solution, but it looks a little tricky, and it also broke the !t3 bang.

My proposition is:

I propose using the full name of the search engine in the example because it makes it clear that this part should be replaced with your preferred search engine. The parameter name 'default' better explains its purpose, because Chrome also marks the default search engine with a '(Default)' mark. The name 'engine' could be a little confusing for non-technical people.

@grepex’s workaround is only working with DuckDuckGo, as the query is routed first to DDG and DDG does the server-side parsing of the following bangs. Basically nullifies the only benefit of using Unduck.
