after update GM's XHR fails to connect despite "*" in "User domain whitelist"

this happened before with the same script, after it was synced from another PC.
After removing "" from "User domain whitelist", the dialog showed and the script was working OK.
Now I updated this script (manually) and after update it sopped working. Reason XHR fails.
But in settings it shows in "User domain whitelist" that "" are allowed.
No dialog to allow was offered until I removed the "*" and refreshed the affected tab.

Is this expected?
