TypeScript version requirement

As far as I can tell, router needs TypeScript version 4.9 or above. My project can only go up to 4.5. I get the following errors with beta 48

[tsc] node_modules/.pnpm/@[email protected]_w7o5yyljkiidx2s2nzb26ottzu/node_modules/@tanstack/router-core/build/types/index.d.ts(517,147): error TS1005: '?' expected.

Is upgrading TypeScript my only option here?
